Though it may look strange to us it actually works extremely well indeed. Infact Lee has created one of the best air warfare boardgames out there. It took some vision I feel to think it up and he was right in that it would work and work very well indeed. Another huge plus for me is it's very solo friendly, more so I feel than what it says on the box. I'm a solo wargamer and I love it. This should be up there in the 2015 awards for best wargame. I'll certainly buy any future releases. If your an air warfare fan then his is a must buy. I imagine it will go out of stock pretty snap it up whilst it's around.

Finally a tactical air combat game that is not tedious to play, and feels historical. I love the way the various systems interact. It is also sort of genius to foil ahistorical play by forcing flights into loosely defined mission states until they are alerted or engaged with the enemy. This feels much more like real WW2 air combat to me than any of the games that feature single aircraft, plotted movement, etc etc etc. This game is also probably one of the most beautiful I own. I even love the big blue map.

WING LEADER is an exciting new game system of large scale aerial combat in World War II. Based on a unique side-scrolling view, in which altitude is clearly visible, players can recreate the great air battles of the war.

This first volume focuses on the fighting from 1940 to 1942, with scenarios for the Battle of Britian, Malta, Coral Sea, Midway, North Africa, and Stalingrad. Future games will expand the system to the late war.

Players fly squadrons and flights, attempting to intercept raids or fend off marauding fighters in fast-playing games that take between 90 and 120 minutes.

Wing Leader takes a new look at aerial warfare, incorporating aircraft, altitude, and weather in a way never seen before!
