Please add my vote for a mounted board as well. I bought and traded away the original Twilight Struggle because I didn't like the unmounted map. I bought the Deluxe edition as soon as it was available. I'm a huge fan of science fiction games, so this was my first pre-order from GMT. If you find there are a lot of first-time direct customers like me ordering SE, consider that they may be accustomed to mounted boards and would be more satisfied with them. Ultimately I decided to pull my pre-order because it seems unlikely this game will ship with a mounted board or have one available separately. I know that's a chicken/egg problem, but I don't want to have to deal with plexi for one game in my entire collection. UPDATE - Mounted board is a reality, and I'm back on the preorder list. Thank you for listening to your customers, GMT Games!

According to today's email update, the Mounted Board is IN! Time for all you fence sitters to jump onboard! I'm very excited about this one and I feel like you can really stand by GMT's products and customer support!

Like other people have said here, I would only buy this game if it came with a board, don't get me wrong though as I am looking forward to this game but a board is a must even if I have to pay a little extra.

I vote for the mounted board too , I din't used to buy any GMT games because their "paper" boards . Bu the las year this changed. (I bought 5 games with mounted board from GMT). Now I am adicted to the GMT games but i think that a mounted board is still a must

I am a big fan of the SE4 and SE5 games. The only thing holding my P500 order is the mounted board. Re-price it if you have to, but please include the board!

Obviously my five start rating is based on my anticipation of the game. GMT really needs to allow comments with no rating. Anyway.. I think the counters look excellent. Also, GMT, please consider a MOUNTED map for this game - its a single mapper, and has great crossover potential due to its theme and reasonable playing time. At least consider adding a mounted map as a stand alone option on the P500. Thanks for listening!

The previous reviewers were apparently not Space Empires IV players. I liked the counters. Sure they could look slicker but they give the feel of SE IV. Looking forward to it.

Designer checking in - the counters shown are playtest counters. The ship and planet artwork is good, but the counters themselves are just what I threw together in Publisher. I'm sure GMT will do a better job than I did! BTW, I apologize for rating the game, but the system forces me to rate the game in order to leave a comment.
