Fun game! I'm a miniature wargamer and I find this game very fun and similar to. I was not given the right mix of colored blocks, but otherwise I'm very happy with the game.

This game is so great that it deserves another 5 star entry. In other games of this period one has to deal with complicated and convoluted rules that deal with command control and and the interelationships between the various weapon systems. The card play and battle dice have steamlined the resolution of these aspects of ancient warfare.

Fun game that is a great second step to get people into the war gaming hobby.

Great game for Friday night boardgaming clubs. You could probably get in 2-3 games easily in a 3 hour period. Really like the way that the rules are laid out. The blocks take a bit of time to label but after you are done off you go to fight Hannibal or as the Carthaginians threaten Rome with capture!

C&C:A has enduring qualities such as ease of play, tense action, a plethora of evocative scenarios, and short playing time. Wonderful design, wonderful game, wonderful series...

Fast and relatively easy to learn, this game captures the feel of the era. The Commander unit place this version above Memoir 44 and BattleLore.

This has to be one of the best wargames ever. In the style of Battle Cry and Memoir 44, but the ancient era seems to lend itself perfectly for this system. With 3 expansion due (the first of which I also have - get it) this will run and run. The only gripe is that the board is a little "bendy" and cheap, and the dice being plastic are right out of context. Wood would have been better to match the blocks. Good art work and great rules.

Excellent medium weight tactical combat game. The feel of miniatures, the price of a boardgame. A personal favorite.

The third in the Richard Borg card-driven series hits a home run. The ancients theme fits perfectly with this evolving system, with just the right amount of complexity to please both euro-gamers and wargamers. The blocks give a nice tactile feel.

Commands & Colors: Ancients allows you to re-fight epic battles of the ancient world. Here the focus is on the two rivals for power in the Western Mediterranean – Carthage and Rome. Will you, as Hannibal, triumph over larger Roman armies; or as Scipio Africanus, will you beat Hannibal with newer tactics of your own?

Units in both armies can only move and fight when ordered. The command playing cards supply those orders, providing an element of luck that creates a fog of war and presents players with both challenges and opportunities. You must maximize your opportunities by playing your command cards judiciously. How well you handle the diverse units, their weapons, and the terrain, will determine victory.

Commands & Colors: Ancients contains the battles of Akragas, Crimissos River, Ticinus River, Lake Trasimenus, Cannae, Dertosa, Castulo, Baecula, Ilipa, and Zama.
