GMT Games Weekend, April 2007

Dates: April 26-29, 2007

Times: Starts at 10 AM on Thursday, the 26th. Ends by 2 PM Sunday, the 29th.

Location: GMT Offices/Warehouse in Hanford, CA

This is the eleventh GMT Weekend that we've run on the west coast, put on by and for those who enjoy playing GMT Games. With a mix of mostly informal gaming interspersed with several planned events and tournaments, a GMT Weekend is a terrific place to learn new games, meet new gaming friends, and share fun and a love for historical games with other gamers. Our experience with this event has been that the limited registration slots fill up quickly, so we encourage you to register right away. Due to facility space limitations, registration is limited to the first 60 people who sign up.

Games We'll Play:
Much of the three and 1/2 days of gaming will be informal and unstructured, so bring any game you want to play. For the structured events, you can sign up once you're on-site. We especially invite you to check out the Combat Commander: Europe event, run by Chad and Kai Jensen, and the "Down in Flames" fast-action aerial card game events, run by Mike Lam, and always a big hit of the weekend. We plan on running the following events this time:

  • Aces' Campaigns (fly player-named pilots through multiple dogfights and help your pilots try to make ACE!): Ongoing daily
  • A Tournament and Ongoing demos by Chad and Kai Jensen of Chad's Combat Commander: Europe as well as plenty of sneak peaks at upcoming games in the series.
  • A least one game each of the multi-player games Wellington, Sword of Rome, and Here I Stand

  • Registration:

Please e-mail or fax this registration form (using the alternate forms above) to GMT Games, or fill out the form below and hit Submit, to reserve your place at the weekend. Note that you need to make your lodging reservations separately (see below).

Cost: $20 (includes free "Pizza Night" on Saturday night). Remember, registration is limited to the first 60 people who turn in their registration form. So don't delay! Register now!

(Note: Most of the weekend's games will be informal and unstructured, so bring any game you want to play. We'd like to get an idea of which games to set up at the event as well as to help you find opponents. Spots also fill up quickly for the multi-player games of Wellington, Sword of Rome, and Here I Stand that we intend to play. To that end, we invite you to list four games you'd most like to play during the weekend.

We MAY add a couple more "come as you are" tourneys before October if we get GMs who are willing to run them. If you're interested in GMing an event, please let us know.

    Food and Drinks:

The GMT warehouse is located about one and a half miles from a mall and several shopping complexes that include Chili's, Applebees, Denny's (that's open 24 hours), Starbucks, Jamba Juice, Cold Stone Creamery, and a variety of fast food establishments. Mounds and mounds of other food locations are within mile of the mall. We'll provide Pizza at no charge for everyone on Saturday night, and will have soft drinks and snacks available for purchase inside the game room during gaming hours.

    Lodging:

Attendees will need to make your own arrangements for Lodging. We have secured group/corporate pricing with the Sequoia Inn (approx $70/night single, $75 double). (They are just across the street from the mall complex mentioned above) Just let them know you are with the GMT group to get the rate. Here is the hotel contact information:

Train: Amtrak service to Hanford from most points north and south is available. This is a relatively inexpensive way to travel (and being able to sleep on the way home is a nice benefit). If you plan to come via Amtrak, let us know your arrival time, and we'll have someone pick you up at the station.

Air: The closest airport is in Fresno - the Fresno/Yosemite Air Terminal. From there, it's about a 45 minute drive to Hanford. If you're coming in this way, let us know, and we'll send or fax you a map of the quickest way to get here from the airport.
